ALEA SBI Launches Homicide Investigation in Barbour County

BARBOUR COUNTY – On Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched a homicide investigation at the request of the Clayton Police Department, Chief Ed Hardy. The incident occurred near the 40 Block of Westfield Court in Clayton within Barbour County. During the course of the incident, a 13-year-old juvenile was found deceased after being shot. The suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, was identified, arrested and charged with Capital Murder. The 17-year-old was then placed in the Barbour County Jail. Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Barbour County District Attorney’s Office.
